Training-cum-awareness program on ‘Primary Processing,Value Addition and Storage

AICRP ON PHET, CAE, Dr. RPCAU, PUSA, BIHAR

A one day training-cum-awareness program on ‘Primary Processing,Value Addition and Storage’ was organized by AICRP on PHET, College of Agricultural Engineering, Dr. RPCAU, Pusa under its SC subplan at Thahara Gopalpur Village under Pusa Block of Samastipur district on 21.09.2019. About 150+ farmers/entrepreneurs (mostly ladies) got registered and participated in this training program. In the inaugural session, Dr. M. Shrivastava, Professor & Research Engineer in AICRP on PHET welcomed the guests and participants giving the genesis of this training program. Dr. Ambrish Kumar, Dean, CAE, Pusa addressing the gathering stressed upon the need of minimizing post harvest losses by proper post harvest techniques and conservation. He also told about value addition and storage. Dr. N. K. Singh, Director Research of DrRPCAU, Pusa also addressed the gathering throwing light on importance of post harvest technology and storage. Inaugural session was ended with vote of thanks by Dr. P. D. Sharma, HOD (PFED) & P. I. of AICRP on PHET. Er. Vishal Kumar did anchoring for inaugural session.

Afterwards technical session was conducted in which various post harvest primary processing technology, value addition and storage was demonstrated with the help of models, flexi-charts, photo blowups etc. Live demonstration of hermetic bag storage was also conducted. Technologies included Zero energy cool chamber, Hermetic bag storage, Papad making machines, Dal milling technology, Grain puffing machine, Fruit/Vegetable slicer etc. All the scientists of Processing & Food Engineering department – Dr. P. D. Sharma, Dr. M. Shrivastava, Er. Dinesh Rajak, Er. Vishal Kumar, Er. Sujit Kumar actively conducted the technical session.

At last useful feedback was also collected from participants. Program was a grand success.
